This entrance corridor to the high Atlas is a fertile green valley situated some 60 Km (just one hour)vsouth of Marrakech where pictuaresque Berber villages cling to steep slopes above a rushing mountain torrent. In summer, the cool of the mountains maarks a welcome contrast to the fierce heat of Marrakech (so the valley is veru popular during the summer week-end) while, in winter, the snowcapped summits of the Atlas range provide a truly breathtaking spectacle.
Before the end of the valley the road peters out at the little village of Setti Fatma, set at 1500m, where a pretty walk can be enjoyed beside the river to a seven waterfalls tumbbling down the mountain in the shadow of the highest peaks. Take a picnic for the trip but, if not, you'll find a good choice of inexpensive eating places along the way.
The village of Ourika itself lies at the foot of hills where the road begins its climb up into the Atlas.
Famous for its pottery and semi-precious minerals, its exhilarating berber souk ,(a large country market, one of the biggest in the area) on Mondays is not to be missed.

After a departure of Marrakech towards 9h00, by taking the road of the kasbahs, you will discover the famous lake or what one call stopping of lala takerkoust which takes part in the food of the town of Marrakech relating to electricity. A lake or there exists a diversity of restaurants (seen lake) Continuing towards the Berber village of amezmiz, after cross the high atlas, will discover of it fields of the olive-trees centenaries and a panoramic sight for the lake. Also to see the fields of salt .after continues towards ouirgan then asni, and go up towards the valley of the ourika. |

This excursion takes one across the high Atlas on an impressive mountain road which its way past numerous Berber villages up to the 2260m Tizi n'Tichka, the highest mountain pass in the Atlas. Beyond the high Atlas begins the landscape of semi desert punctuated by kasbahs and small houses of mud and straw vivadly conrasting with green fields which spring up alongside the river en route to Ouarzazate, a modern town built the french as a garrison post on the edge of the Sahara.
Visits include the old residence of the Pacha El Glaoui, the Taourirt kasbah and Ait Benhaddou, an ancient, picturesque hill village popular with filmakers. |

At a little more than one Marrakech time, you enter a splendid green valley brood to the foot of the mount of toubkal: 4165m height, the most top in Africa of the nord.vous the souk of tahnaout “each Tuesday” you visit cross the throats of Ghezaia, arrival with Asni, country of amethyst, “souk visits each Saturday” or there is a good choice of small restaurants to take the lunch unless you did not prefer a picnic. After a morning departure and almost 2 hours and half of road, you will discover old Mogador, which extend on almost a narrow and low island, brood inside the ramparts dividing the old city into several districts. Its port is typically Portuguese top of Scala you will have a splendid sight while admiring the guns of bronze melted in Espagne.Essaouira, mainly in pedestrian precinct, is characterized by the smoothness from its craft industry: on all works it of the wood of thuya with very beautiful incrustations of lemon trees, ebony, mother-of-pearl or money and copper wire. |
